Design Engineering
T he Design Engineering Centre of Excellence provides the engineering expertise necessary to prepare the physical design of the power plants, This includes layout and design of buildings, foundations, equipment & connected piping, raceways, cable and ductwork. The design deliverables are prepared utilising standardised procedures and state-of-the-art computerized systems.

This process centre is committed to continuous quality improvement through staff development, customer feedback and application of state-of-the-art computer software to provide efficient and high quality design & engineering services aimed at ensuring low project cost. It is grouped as under:

Civil & Structural Design

This centre utilises effective design procedures to perform site investigation, development activities, basic engineering and analysis. This process centre is also responsible for design of structures, foundation, building and their architecture. The centre also has technical expertise in fields such as non-linear behavior, vibration analysis, special coating and condition assessment.

Deliverables include:

Electrical/I&C Design

Master schematics and physical design deliverables are produced with the help of power plant engineering and design software by this process centre. Other responsibilities of this process centre are development of physical layout of electrical equipment, cable length calculations, cable schedules, lighting and grounding calculations.

Deliverables include:

Mechanical Plant Design

This process centre develops plot plans and plant GA drawings which involves co-ordination and inputs from other design engineering process centres. This is followed by detailed piping and duct layouts. It is also responsible for total piping systems engineering, stress analysis and support design.
